TIC TAC TOE OF STONE & LINES

I love translating childhood simplicity into architectural composition. Tic tac toe exudes duality as you also see that with rawness of stone against the precision of lines. Together they form a quiet dialogue of tension & harmony.

PHARMACIST TO CLINICIAN OF SPACE

An ode to my transformation. Emerald mortar handles shaped like capsules, a single RX bar at center, and emerald plates on the right — my merge of medicine and design. I’m still a clinician, but my prescriptions now take form through healing textures, rhythm, and space.

TRAVERTINE BENCH OF MY HEART

My favorite piece — the CB2 travertine bench. Its sandy tone and veins bring a warm dance to the discipline of lines. I paired it with a horizontal lined rug and horizontal shiplap wall for a dialogue of expansion and stillness.

TOILE EPIPHANY

Came across this UO toile accent chair and, of course, a tablescape epiphany ensued.See below for tablescape.

BLUE QUEEN

Inspo for this tablescape came from UO blue toile chair as shown above. Blue has been a color I bring in sometimes. Soft blue is a hue that quiets the waking mind. In design, it’s often described as an exhale, a visual pause, that softens architecture’s edge. It carries the rhythm of water and the openness of sky, reminding the eye to rest.

GREEN KING

Opposite Blue Queen, this half of the tablescape holds its ground in green toile. While blue brings calm and clarity, green restores vitality. Also it symbolizes the earth's connection to the sky and water. Together, the blue and green become two halves in conversation inviting nature in.

PLAYFUL DINING TABLE

This teak wood table was designed by me after not finding the right one to fit the space. It started with an aha moment as I was looking at my writing desk which held the teak panel I replaced it with years ago. I was like why not use that Crate & Barrel teak wood wall art again but this time to develop the table of my dreams. As I set aside the 4 panels received after handpicking from photos via Crate & Barrel assistance, it was time for legs.I communicated with a welder on etsy to bring my steel table leg design to fruition since I couldn't find ones that had a beam across to hold the 4 wood panels. Plus I wanted it to be movable so added wheels to the design. Now it serves as a playful table that's for food and play. Movable furniture serves as hallmark to one of my core standards design, low disruption.

LINEAR FOREST

A modern twist to the forest theme. An interplay of lines brings about interaction in a space whether it is at the table or in an active space. Here we have the rugged vertical lines of the branches to the horizontal lines of the shiplap wall to the grid pattern on the plates.

MOLCAJETE

This is a staple in Hispanic kitchens, first used 3500 years ago during the pre-Hispanic era to make salsas and guacomoles. Very little has changed since then other than different materials. Lava stone is amongst the original stones that still holds its' place in tradition as a pass down in the family. I design with that same philosophy in mind: listening first to take in client details and then approach designing a healing space. Lava stone is such a beautiful versatile material, not only for use, but also to exude a dynamic dialogue with smooth materials. Its' roughness tells a story- grounding the sleek, soft surfaces it meets. Also, its' porous surface absorbs light rather than reflecting it, heightening depth and intimacy in a room. In minimalist or modern spaces, this absorption quality becomes powerful as it calms the visual field, softens glare, and draws the eye toward stillness. That’s why lava stone is often used in countertops, vessels, or accent pieces where touch is part of the experience; it’s meant to be felt, not just seen. In a sensory composition, lava stone introduces earth-tone neutrality that stabilizes bolder elements such as brass, travertine, or in this case warm woods.

KW x VINTAGE

There's such an elegance that comes from merging different eras together. This is the meeting point of design and living on. Through slides of reinterpretation vintage pieces continue to live along side newer pieces whether in furniture or plates. Each one continues to live, harmonizing beside their contemporary acquaintances.
